On Thursday, May 11, state Reps. Frank Burns, D-Cambria County, and Natalie Mihalek, R-Allegheny County – co-chairs of the Pennsylvania House Steel Caucus – held a meeting of the Pennsylvania House Steel Caucus at U. S. Steel’s Mon Valley Works, Irvin Plant, to discuss relevant public policy issues and the findings of a new study measuring the economic impact of the steel industry in Pennsylvania.

PA Steel Alliance meeting hosted at the Mon Valley Works Training Hub

The meeting brought together leadership from the steel industry, including its suppliers, the United Steelworkers, Building Trades, and government officials. The day included a tour of the Mon Valley Works Training Hub, showcasing the cooperative dedication to strengthening the steel industry and supporting workforce development through the Department of Labor & Industry’s “Industry Partnership” job training program.

The meeting brought together elected officials and labor and industry leaders to discuss issues important to the steel industry.  The group also heard a presentation on the results of an economic study that showed the impact that the steel industry has in PA.
